The hotel is surrounded by many attractions and historic sites, including national treasures and important cultural sites. Some examples are Kiyomizu-dera temple and Yasaka Pagoda, which are located within walking distance. The Higashiyama area, where our hotel is located, is home to Kiyomizu-dera temple, which has been registered as a World Heritage Site, as well as many other historically and aesthetically valuable sites. It is the perfect place to rest while sightseeing in Kyoto. The hotel reception will also gladly provide you with sightseeing information.
- A Yasaka Shrine
- Yasaka Shrine, colloquially called “Gion”, is famous for the “Gion festival”, one of the three largest festivals in Kyoto. It is said to house, right below the main shrine, the blue dragon which protects eastern Kyoto.
- B Nene Road
- “Nene Road” is the 250-meter long road going out of Maruyama Park and leading to Kiyomizu temple. It is the perfect spot for a walk, with its beautiful stone pavements and the nature changing with the seasons, from blooming cherry trees in spring to red leaves in autumn.
- C Kodaiji
- The Kodaiji temple was built in 1606 to worship Hideyoshi Toyotomi and his wife Kodaiin. Its beautiful nature, with cherry trees, bamboo groves, autumn leaves, and more, can be enjoyed throughout the year.
- D Kyoto Ryozengokoku Shrine
- The Kyoto Ryozengokoku Shrine was built to worship several patriots from the Bakumatsu period, including Ryoma sakamoto and Shintaro Nakaoka. Its location in Kodai allows for a great view of Kyoto below.
- E Yasaka Pagoda at Hokanji Temple
- The Hokanji temple is said to have been built by Prince Shotoku in 592. The five-story Yasaka Pagoda located within its premises is an important cultural property of the country and one of the buildings symbolizing the Higashiyama area.
- F Sanneizaka
- Sanneizaka, also known as Sannenzaka, is said to take its name from “Nene”, which is how shogun Hideyoshi Toyotomi used to call Kitanomandokoro. It is a popular tourist spot with many old-fashioned buildings.
- G Kiyomizu-dera Temple
- Kiyomizu-dera temple was built in 778 and is one of the most famous temples in Kyoto. You can overlook Kyoto’s cityscape from the “Kiyomizu Stage”, which protrudes from the mountain slope.

As you walk through the premises, you can enjoy the ever-changing nature outside the windows, the 80 year old memories carved into the building, and the many works of art adorning it.
The gardens and restaurants in the separate building are also available to those not staying in the hotel. While being located in the perfect location to sightsee, the hotel is far enough from the city to let you relax away from the crowds and enjoy Kyoto at your pace.
